5-Star WR Tristen Keys Flips Commitment to Tennessee from LSU

Scott PolacekAug 28, 2025

One of the best players in the entire 2026 football recruiting class is reportedly switching his commitment from one SEC team to another.

Hayes Fawcett of Rivals reported Thursday that wide receiver Tristen Keys flipped from LSU to Tennessee even though he had been committed to the Tigers since March.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, he is a 5-star prospect, the No. 6 overall player and the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 class.

The Volunteers are building what could be an explosive future aerial attack considering they also have quarterback Faizon Brandon as part of their 2026 class.

Brandon is also a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 quarterback in his class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

This has seemingly been a long time coming, as Carter Bahns of CBS Sports noted Keys visited Tennessee on June 13 and told LSU coaches ahead of his June 20 visit to see the Tigers he would likely flip his commitment to the Volunteers. While he made the visit to LSU, it clearly wasn't enough to keep his commitment.

Bahns also highlighted Key's jump in the recruiting rankings last summer after a dominant junior season that saw him lead his team to a state championship game in Mississippi with 58 catches for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The first thing that jumps out about Keys' game is his speed and athleticism, which should help him create separation on downfield routes and pick up yards after the catch when Tennessee gets the ball in his hands.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports picked Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb as a player comparison, which is quite the praise for someone who hasn't even reached the collegiate level.

If he can live up to those expectations, the Volunteers will have an unstoppable wide receiver who can help lead them to the College Football Playoff in the future.
