Devin Hester's Son Drayton Gets Surprised with Miami CFB Offer in Video

Pro Football Hall of Famer Devin Hester could see his legacy at his alma mater continue with his son.

In a social media video, Hester's son Drayton officially received a college offer from Miami head coach Mario Cristobal. The youngster is a member of the class of 2031, so there's a long way to go before he decides whether he will follow in his father's footsteps with the Hurricanes, but Cristobal wanted to get ahead of the curve:

"Number one, congratulations on busting your butt and doing all the things that you’ve been doing at such a young age," Cristobal said over the phone (h/t Griffin McVeigh of On3.com). "I know you guys have got a big game coming up, but I wanted to call you myself and let you know, face to face, man to man, that we’re offering you a scholarship to Miami and we would love you to be a Miami Hurricane one day, OK? You are that guy. I’m going to recruit you like an absolute madman, and I want you to lead the class when it’s your time."

Drayton Hester is entering the seventh grade, but he's already turned heads in his budding football career. In an evaluation, Dorrington Myers of RNR described him as "electrifying" and predicted that he can be an impact player on offense.

"I consider Drayton to be a dual threat improviser," Myers wrote. "On the ground he’s extremely explosive and his quick first step allows him to get a head start against the best defensive players. Drayton has superior vision and at any given moment he can get from A to Z without sacrificing speed or quickness."

Devin Hester starred at Miami from 2003 to 2005 and earned first-team All-American honors in 2004 and first-team All-ACC honors in 2004 and 2005. He went on to become one of the best return specialists in NFL history, earning an induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024.

If Drayton Hester commits to Miami, he will have to live up to his famous lineage, and it appears that he's up for the challenge.
