76ers Tease Return of Allen Iverson-Era Uniforms in NBA Schedule Release Video

The Philadelphia 76ers could be bringing back an iconic uniform package.

To help announce the team's upcoming schedule on Thursday, the 76ers dropped a video featuring clips of franchise legend Allen Iverson and some of his teammates from that era. While the team hasn't announced throwback uniforms, the video seems to indicate that they are on the way amid rampant speculation they could return.

Last season, the Sixers introduced Nike City Edition uniforms that paid homage to the Spectrum, where they played from 1967 to 1996. Those jerseys had a 1980s-inspired look, which is fitting considering Philadelphia reached the NBA Finals three times during that decade, winning a championship in 1983.

After paying tribute to that era, which featured legends like Moses Malone and Julius Erving, it appears the 76ers could rock uniforms inspired by another iconic era.

The late 1990s and early 2000s saw the rise of Iverson, who won MVP and led the team to its most recent Finals appearance in 2001. That era also included players like former Sixth Man of the Year Aaron McKie and Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo.

After the way last season went, the 76ers could use some of the magic that led them to success during Iverson's era.

Philadelphia is coming off a 24-58 season, where the main storyline was injuries. Joel Embiid missed most of the season, star rookie Jared McCain played just 23 games and newcomer Paul George was sidelined for half of the year.

Despite a rough year last season, there's plenty of excitement around this year's squad. The core of Embiid, George and Tyrese Maxey can be one of the best in basketball when healthy, and promising young players like McCain and No. 3 overall pick VJ Edgecombe only bolster the roster.

The unveiling of new throwback uniforms would only increase the hype heading into the season.
