Kevin Durant Claps Back at Critical Fan, 'You Are Diminishing My All-Time Greatness'
Kevin Durant is one of the greatest offensive players in NBA history, and he would like you to remember that fact.
Here was a recent interaction the Houston Rockets star had on social media:
Durant's not wrong. His 30,571 points rank eighth in NBA history, and he's done so while shooting 50.2 percent from the field and 39 percent from three, absurdly efficient numbers for a perimeter player.
To offer a brief comparison for historical context, Kobe Bryant shot 44.7 percent from the field for his career and 32.9 percent from three. And Durant's 27.2 points per game in his career trumps Bryant's career averages (25.0 PPG).
Now, in fairness, some of Bryant's numbers are affected by lower output earlier and later in his career. Prime Bryant averaged 35.4 points per game in the 2005-06 season, a number Durant has never matched (though he does have two seasons with 30 or more PPG).
But the point isn't to debate whether Bryant or Durant is the better overall scorer. The point is to show how efficient Durant has been in comparison to a scoring legend like Bryant. You can like or hate Durant all you want, but there haven't been many three-level scorers with his efficiency in NBA history, and that is an important part of his legacy.
