Carmelo Anthony Picks Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade as HOF Presenters for 2025 Induction
Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony chose a pair of familiar faces to welcome him to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame next month.
Per Ian Begley of SNY, Anthony picked Hall of Famers Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade as his presenters for the induction ceremony on Sept. 6.
Anthony and Iverson played together on the Denver Nuggets from 2006 to 2008. Though their partnership was brief, they lit the league up as one of the best offensive duos of that era. Anthony averaged a career-high 28.9 points in their first year together and shot a career-best 49.2 percent from the field in their second season as teammates.
While Wade and Anthony never suited up together in the NBA, they teamed with one another in the Summer Olympics in 2004 and 2008. The 2004 team, which also featured Iverson, disappointingly finished with a bronze medal in Athens. However, they bounced back with a gold medal in Beijing for the 2008 squad famously dubbed the "Redeem Team."
After entering the NBA as part of the famed 2003 draft class, Anthony, Wade and LeBron James were forever tied together. They developed a strong bond over the years and were eventually dubbed the "Banana Boat Crew" along with Chris Paul after vacationing together.
One of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Anthony headlines a star-studded 2025 Hall of Fame class that also includes Dwight Howard, Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore. They will descend upon Springfield, Massachusetts, for their enshrinement ceremony next month.
