Jarren Duran Deadline Trade Reportedly Isn't Planned by Red Sox, 'More Likely' in FA
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been floated in trade rumors leading up to the July 31 deadline, but it now sounds like he will be staying put at least until the offseason.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the Red Sox "have no plans to trade" Duran at the deadline and are "more likely to move him this winter."
At least one West Coast franchise was chasing after Duran, as Nightengale pointed out that Boston has been "rejecting the San Diego Padres’ offers" for him.
Duran has played in 104 out of 106 games for the 56-50 Red Sox and is hitting .259 with nine home runs and 55 RBI. It was just a year ago that he enjoyed a breakout year with career highs of 21 homers and 75 RBI in 2024, but his power seems to have dropped this season.
The Red Sox got off to a slow start this year before turning to corner near the All-Star break. Adding more talent at the trade deadline could help Boston end a three-year postseason drought, but it appears Duran's roster spot is safe for now.
