EA Sports FC 26 Gameplay Deep Dive Trailer Video Revealed Ahead of Release Date
Gamers got a better look Tuesday into how developers for the EA FC franchise improved gameplay to address community concerns from last season.
A big focus of the newest deep dive into FC 26 laid out differences between the "competitive" and "authentic" gameplay styles.
The particulars for each category are pretty straightforward based on the names.
"Competitive" gameplay is mandatory for online modes such as Ultimate Team and Clubs and can be utilized in offline games if the user chooses.
"Our goal with Competitive Gameplay is to create a more skill-driven competitive experience by reducing the impact of randomness and assistance," EA said. "This is an experience tailored for those who enjoy fast-paced, responsive gameplay."
With "competitive" gameplay, the goal is to emphasize faster, more skills-based action.
The "authentic" style is exactly what it says. What happens on the pitch is intended to closely mirror its real-world equivalent, which means a slower tempo and more difficult path to scoring.
A lot of small tweaks to the general gameplay could add up for a marked contrast from FC 25.
Whether its goalkeepers clearing the ball out of danger more frequently, players making better runs off the ball, or defenders cutting down attacking angles, gamers should see a higher level of intelligence from the AI.
One-on-one situations should be more satisfying as well. The ball is less likely to stay with the attacker when you successfully win a challenge or intercept a pass. When in the attack, passing and dribbling will be easier and more fluid.
The developers laid out all of the other alterations to "Fundamentals" in Tuesday's explainer.
Fans still have to wait a while to enjoy these changes for themselves. FC 26 is slated for a Sept. 26 worldwide release.
