Colorado's Deion Sanders Says He's Not 'All the Way Recovered' from Health Issues

Timothy RappJul 20, 2025

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders offered a micro update on his health status during a video from Well Off Media on Sunday.

"You know I'm still going through something, I ain't all the way recovered," he said to his daughter, Shelomi Sanders, before the two dipped into a cold plunge (1:00 mark).

Sanders has not publicly disclosed the nature of the health issues that have sidelined him for portions of Colorado's offseason. He was not on campus while recruits visited Boulder in June, and between May and June was not seen at a number of events, including the wedding of his former player, Travis Hunter, a speaking engagement he was scheduled and youth football camps.

He did appear at the Big 12 Conference media days earlier in July, but declined to answer questions about his health.

"I'm not here to talk about my health," he told reporters. "I'm here to talk about my team."

Sanders, 57, is entering his third season as Colorado's head coach. He's brought plenty of attention to Boulder, though on the field, the team has gone just 13-12 in two seasons. The Buffaloes make an impressive jump in year two, however, going 9-4 in their return to the Big 12.

Expectations may be a bit more muted heading into 2025, however, with Hunter—last year's Heisman Trophy winner—and former starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders now in the NFL.
