VJ Edgecombe Shakes Off Slow Start as Sixers Beat Wizards

No. 3 overall pick VJ Edgecombe started Summer League off with a bang, dropping 28 points and 10 rebounds in Salt Lake City last week, but he was forced to miss the last four games with a sprained thumb.

He returned to action on Tuesday as the Sixers took on the Wizards, but had a tough time getting going, finishing with no points in the first half.

But he turned things around in the second half, dropping 15 points in the final two quarters to finish with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 30 minutes.

Edgecombe is still getting comfortable, that much is evident from a shaky 4-of-14 shooting night, but he ended his first game in Las Vegas strong.

Johni Broome, the Sixers' second-round pick out of Auburn, also had a solid game with 14 points and 10 boards.

Shannon, Holland Battle as Wolves Beat Pistons

Terrence Shannon Jr. and Ron Holland II are looking to put together strong second years in the NBA, and they looked great on Tuesday.

Shannon led the way for the Timberwolves with 24 points, five boards and a pair of steals. It marked his third game with 20-plus points in as many Summer League games.

Holland's Pistons came up short, but he put on a show with 22 points and six rebounds, showing of his signature defensive ability with six steals.

Nets' Drew Timme Continues to Impress in Summer League

Drew Timme, who went undrafted out of Gonzaga in 2023, is still looking to become an everyday player in the NBA, and he's making a strong case in Summer League this year.

He put up 22 points and nine boards in his first Summer League game before dropping 30 points on Sunday. He continued his strong Summer League showing on Tuesday with a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double against the New York Knicks.

Hansen, Queen Duel as Blazers Beat Pelicans

Yang Hansen of the Portland Trail Blazers and Derik Queen of the New Orleans Pelicans had solid performances on Tuesday as the two rookies try to prove they belong in the NBA.

Hansen led the Blazers past the Pelicans behind 15 points. It was far from the best we've seen out of him so far, but a respectable performance nonetheless.

Though Queen had eight turnovers, he still put together a fantastic showing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks.
