Suns Reportedly Have 'Keen Interest' in Veteran PG Contract amid Chris Paul Rumors
The Phoenix Suns have been one of the most active teams in the NBA this offseason, and it sounds like they're not done exploring potential additions.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Wednesday that the Suns "have keen interest in" adding a veteran point guard this offseason. Stein added that Phoenix is considered one of two potential landing spots for veteran point guard Chris Paul, along with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Suns pulled off the first major deal of the summer when they agreed to send star forward Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in what later became a historic seven-team trade. Phoenix's acquisitions this offseason include young guard Jalen Green, veteran forward Dillon Brooks and rising young center Mark Williams.
Stein and Jake Fischer reported last month that the Suns would consider signing Paul if Tyus Jones departs in free agency. Jones signed a deal with the Orlando Magic, opening the door for a potential reunion between Paul and Phoenix.
Paul played for the Suns for three seasons from 2020 to 2023. He helped lead the team to an NBA Finals appearance in 2021. The 40-year-old recently revealed that the 2025-26 season is likely to be his last in the NBA, so he will likely be looking to land with a title contender.
Bringing back Paul could give the Suns the galvanizing presence they need to re-establish themselves among the elite teams in the Western Conference.
