Jonathan Kuminga Sign-and-Trade Reportedly Could Take 'A While' amid Warriors Rumors
While the Golden State Warriors are rumored to be open to a sign-and-trade involving forward Jonathan Kuminga, it sounds like it won't be easy to get a deal done soon.
During this week's episode of The Zach Lowe Show, NBA insider Zach Lowe explained that the Warriors' trade demands could delay any deals for Kuminga this offseason.
"And from what I’ve heard in the Jonathan Kuminga situation, I’m not sure what you’ve heard, this might take a while because I think the Warriors want real stuff back, like a decent young player, a first-round pick," Lowe said (h/t HoopsHype).

The Athletic's Anthony Slater recently reported that the Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets have shown interest in acquiring Kuminga. The Sacramento Kings were also reported as a team pursuing the 22-year-old.
Lowe explained that other teams are likely to be hesitant to meet Golden State's demands after Kuminga's up-and-down 2024-25 campaign in which he was limited to 47 games and didn't show the improvements that were expected of him.
"And the team that’s getting Kuminga is like, 'Well, because of the base year compensation rules, which are super complicated, there’s got to be salary kind of flying around the league. If we’re dumping money to get Kuminga, like the team we’re dumping to might ask us for another pick. And at that point, the price is just a little rich for our blood,'" Lowe said.
