Jonathan Kuminga Reportedly Eyed by Wizards, More as Warriors' Trade Price Revealed
A new potential trade suitors reportedly has emerged for Golden State Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga.
According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater, "the Washington Wizards entered the mix in the last 24 hours" as the team eyes Kuminga as apart of their rebuild. Slater also noted the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets as having "varying levels of interest."
As for the Warriors' asking price for Kuminga, Slater reported that they are seeking "a promising young player plus a first-round pick."

The Warriors extended a $7.9 million qualifying offer to Kuminga last week, making him a restricted free agent. Golden State can match any offer sheet Kuminga receives.
Slater reported last month that the Warriors were expected to explore a sign-and-trade for Kuminga this offseason.
According to Slater, Golden State hasn't felt it has received a proper offer for Kuminga just yet. Slater noted that the Sacramento Kings offered Devin Carter, Dario Šarić, and two second-round picks for Kuminga, an offer the Warriors considered a "buy-low attempt."
Kuminga, the seventh overall pick in 2021, put up 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season. While it was a solid fourth season, he saw his role decrease from the prior season, starting just 10 games compared to 46 during the 2023-24 campaign. He also missed significant time due to injuries.
The 22-year-old voiced his frustration over his minutes throughout the year.
“I hate the fact that everybody is telling me be ready, get ready," Kuminga told reporters in April. "I already know that I’m ready. The more you keep telling me to get ready, it becomes kind of irritating.”
According to Slater, Kuminga hopes to be a "featured part of the core" with his next team and wants "the belief of the franchise and coaching staff behind him."
A place like Washington might be the perfect destination for Kuminga. While he wouldn't have the same chance to compete for a title, he would almost certainly be a focal point of the young roster and could prove himself before hitting unrestricted free agency.
