Quentin Grimes, 76ers Reportedly Have Had 'Little to No Movement' on New Contract
There has been "little to no movement" in contract discussions between the Philadelphia 76ers and restricted free agent Quentin Grimes, according to Kelly Iko and Tony Jones of The Athletic.
Both sides are still "hoping to continue communication in the coming days," per Iko and Jones.
Grimes appeared in 28 games with the 76ers last season after he was acquired in a Feb. 4 trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

The 25-year-old excelled following the change of scenery, as he received extended playing time on a 76ers squad that was dealing with injuries to multiple key guards including Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain.
Grimes averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from behind the arc with Philadelphia.
He recorded 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists on a nightly basis to go along with 46.7/38.5/75.7 shooting splits in 75 combined games with the Mavericks and 76ers on the season.
The reported stalled negotiations between Philadelphia and Grimes may stem from his offensive output prior to joining the team. The former first-round pick only owned career averages of 8.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game heading into the 2024-25 season.
If Grimes stays with the 76ers, he'll also likely transition to a smaller offensive role with the return of Maxey, McCain, Joel Embiid and Paul George.
Still, his ability to space the floor and his defensive acumen could be enough to warrant a new contract. On June 18, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the 76ers consider re-signing Grimes a "priority."
It seems that there is still some work to do before a new deal is agreed upon, though.
