In a teaser trailer for the upcoming season of Quarterback on Netflix, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes reflected on the trade that brought Goff to Detroit from the Los Angeles Rams.

Goff noted that Holmes and Campbell told him they were "so excited" to acquire him, and he explained how their enthusiasm made him feel.
"It kind of brought me from this moment of picking up the pieces to reinvigorated with this energy of, 'Oh, this is what it feels like to truly be wanted and to have these guys behind you,'" Goff said. "I hadn't felt that in quite some time."
The Rams selected Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and although he was a two-time Pro Bowler in L.A. and led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2018, the organization wanted an upgrade.
That resulted in the Rams sending Goff, two first-round picks and a third-round pick to the Lions for quarterback Matthew Stafford in 2021.
The move paid dividends for the Rams since Stafford led them to a Super Bowl win in his first season, but the Lions have also benefited.
In four seasons with the Lions, Goff is 39-25-1 with two playoff appearances and two Pro Bowl selections. Last season, for a Lions team that the an NFL-best 15-2 record, the 30-year-old Goff completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 4,629 yards, a career-high 37 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Regarding the trade, Goff said, "A lot of people saw it as I was being cast away or I was being sent to my career to die. A lot of people with my former organization may have thought that as well. For me, I saw it as what an incredible opportunity to be somewhere that has never won and has never been to the top of the mountain, and how incredible would it be if we're able to build this thing into a winner."
That is exactly what has happened, as the Lions are a combined 27-7 over the past two seasons, and have won back-to-back division titles for the first time since winning three in a row from 1952 to 1954.
Last year, Goff was rewarded with a four-year, $212 million contract extension, and there is little doubt that Campbell and Holmes view him as a quarterback capable of bringing the Lions their first Super Bowl title.
Quarterback returns July 8 on Netflix with the latest season following Goff, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Kirk Cousins of the Atlanta Falcons.
