Angel Reese 'So Happy' for Brother Julian After Signing Lakers UDFA Contract
Angel Reese's brother, Julian Reese, took a step towards becoming a professional basketball player earlier this week when he signed a Summer League contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
After the Chicago Sky's win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, Angel reflected on what it means for her brother to get the chance to make an NBA roster.
"I'm so proud of my brother," Reese said (4:40 mark). "It makes me super emotional, just because of his journey... I'm so happy for him. Knowing my mom and everything she put into it. A single mom, long days, long nights... I'm just really proud of my brother and I hope he gets the opportunity to play in the league, because he deserves it."
Julian spent four seasons at Maryland and had an outstanding senior year, posting 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, helping lead the Terrapins to the Sweet 16.
While he went undrafted, the Lakers decided to give him the chance to prove himself in Summer League, and he could eventually land on an NBA roster.
Julian and the Lakers will kick off Summer League action on Saturday with their first game coming against the Golden State Warriors.
