Deion Sanders Says He's 'Coming to a Stadium Sold Out Soon' amid Health Issue Recovery

Paul KasabianJun 28, 2025

Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders offered encouraging news via his Instagram as he continues his recovery from a health concern, telling followers that he'll be "coming to a stadium sold out soon."

"Every little step I take My son @deionsandersjr has been there so we’ve decided to keep on stepping! #CoachPrime coming to a stadium sold out soon. @welloffforever."

Sanders said on former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel's podcast on May 30 that he's lost 14 pounds and "what I'm dealing with right now is on a whole other level."

"What I'm dealing with right now is on a whole other level," Sanders said (h/t BuffStampede.com). "Honestly, I have done no media, I have done nothing for a minute. So coming on with you is something. I ain't been in front of nobody for a minute. I have lost 14 pounds. I am coming back, but I needed this exchange because I haven't had the energy."

Per Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today in a June 9 report, Sanders had been away from the program at his home in Texas as he dealt "with an unspecified health issue." CU's annual summer football camps, which the head coach had attended in 2023 and 2024, were underway. Unfortunately, Sanders could not attend as he recovered.

Sanders' eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., gave an update on his father during a June 8 YouTube livestream.

“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” Sanders Jr. said.

He also added: “When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m gonna sit here with him.”

Thankfully, Sanders offered an encouraging update on June 11.

Sanders Jr. offered more encouragement on his father's health during a video posted on the Well Off Media YouTube channel on June 21.

"It's a beautiful thing," Deion Jr. said (17:00 mark). "Coach Prime, back active, moving around. God is great. Not back active moving around, but it's progress."

And now more progress has been made, to the point where Sanders could be returning to the program soon enough.
