Davion Mitchell is sticking with the Miami Heat this offseason.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the restricted free agent plans to sign a two-year deal worth $24 million to stay with the Heat after a solid first season in Miami last year.

Mitchell, the ninth overall pick out of Baylor in 2021, spent the first three seasons of his career with the Sacramento Kings and was traded to the Toronto Raptors before the start of last season. He was sent to Miami in February as part of the Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors trade.
Mitchell had one of the best stretches of his young career after being traded. In 30 games with Miami, he put up 10.3 points, 5.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game, establishing himself as a starter late in the season and the playoffs. He also shot 39.8 percent from three after being traded to the Heat.
Though a bit undersized at just 6'0", Mitchell proved to be a capable perimeter defender last season. Charania noted that he ranked top-5 in field-goal percentage allowed as a contesting defender during the 2024-25 campaign.
Mitchell, still just 26 years old, has the chance to have an even bigger season this year. After how well he played last year, he'll almost certainly be a full-time starter and get more minutes than he ever has in his career.
If he can capitalize on those minutes, he could be on his way to a big contract after his new deal expires.
The Heat, who snuck into the postseason but were walloped by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, are looking to stay relevant in the Eastern Conference in their first full year in the post-Butler era. Miami might eventually spring for an All-Star caliber player, but re-signing players like Mitchell ensures a strong foundation heading into the brunt of free agency.
