Like last year, the starting position players (and designated hitters) for the All-Star Game will be chosen via a two-phase fan voting process. Phase 1 is now complete, with fans voting for their favorites for the All-Star Game.
Now each position (minus the outfield) has been pared down to just two finalists after Phase 1 voting was completed Thursday.
In Phase 2, fans will choose from just those two players, with the winner starting in the All-Star Game.
There are some exceptions.
First, the outfield will have six players to choose from, and that list will be pared down to three.
Second, the leading vote-getter in each league is automatically headed to the All-Star Game as a starter.
In the American League, that's New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. With him locking down an outfield spot, fans will choose from four outfielders for two starter positions.
In the National League, that's Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. That means there won't be a finalist vote for the NL DH spot.
The second phase of the voting will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Monday and run through 48 hours to 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
As for pitchers and player reserves, they are picked via a combination of Player Ballot and Commissioner's Office selections. In addition, each MLB team will have at least one All-Star selection. Thirty-two roster spots are available for each league (20 position players, 12 pitchers).
