Heat's Andrew Wiggins, NBA Draft Pick Reportedly Shopped After Durant Trade Pursuit

Joseph ZuckerJun 24, 2025

The Miami Heat are making veteran wing Andrew Wiggins "available in trade talks and would be willing to part with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft for an upgrade alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo," according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

The Heat were in the hunt for Kevin Durant but had to pivot to alternatives when they weren't willing to meet the Phoenix Suns' asking price for the 15-time All-Star. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang reported their final offer included Wiggins and other pieces.

Per Jackson and Chiang, the Heat wouldn't add center Kel’el Ware or forward Nikola Jović to any offers for Durant.

Because he's due to make a little more than $28.2 million in 2025-26, Wiggins is a necessary piece for the Heat to include if they want to make a big win-now improvement to their roster.

The trouble for Miami is that the 30-year-old might be a net-negative trade asset at this point in his career thanks to his big contract.

Between his time with the Heat and Golden State Warriors last season, Wiggins averaged 18 points on 44.8 percent shooting, including 37.4 percent from beyond the arc. He left a lot to be desired in the playoffs, putting up 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as Miami got swept in the first round.

It was certainly a far cry from how Wiggins performed when he was an invaluable two-way piece for the Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Making a blockbuster swap probably requires moving Ware and/or Jović because the Heat don't have much else to offer. Excluding those two in a package headlined by Wiggins and Jaime Jaquez Jr. risks making a lateral move that doesn't boost Miami's championship odds.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, holding onto Wiggins may be the smart play in the hope he benefits from having a full offseason to build more chemistry with his Heat teammates.
