2025 NBA Draft Scouting Report for OKC Thunder No. 15 Pick Thomas Sorber

B/R NBA StaffJun 25, 2025

The Oklahoma City Thunder have selected Thomas Sorber with the No. 15 pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Sorber, a 6'9", 263-pound big man, earned third-team All-Big East and Big East All-Freshman honors in his lone season at Georgetown.

His 7'6" wingspan tied Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner for the second-longest measurement at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine, reinforcing his potential as a rim protector.

Sorber averaged 2.0 blocks per game this past season (27th nationally) and pulled down 8.5 rebounds per game, good for 46th in the country.

On offense, Sorber showed intriguing traits. He scores inside 15 feet with a mix of footwork, power and touch, and he operated as a playmaking hub from the top of the key, hitting cutters and finding open teammates.

Still, his overall shooting remains a question mark. For all the flashes, his efficiency did not always match the volume, and his scoring game outside the paint will need polish.

Early in his career, Sorber will likely serve as a frontcourt depth piece—contributing easy finishes, ball movement and rim protection. But if his shooting confidence translates into consistent makes, he could eventually earn half-court touches and pick-and-pop opportunities.

Sorber ranks No. 23 on B/R NBA draft expert Jonathan Wasserman's 2025 Prospect Big Board.

Geogetown's offense ran through Sorber, but he measured similarly to Atlanta Hawks big man Onyeka Okongwu, who's used more for his tools, motor and defense than his skill.

Sorber may not have the size to dominate centers offensively, but his length and interior presence seems highly likely to translate to finishing, low-post finishing, offensive rebounding and rim protection.

Strengths

2 of 3
COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FEB 15 Georgetown at Butler

Interior Scoring: Sorber uses his footwork, length and touch inside 15 feet. He scores with a nice balance of power, touch and skill around the block.

Passing: Georgetown was able to use its center as a playmaking hub. Sorber works well from the top of the key hitting cutters or open men.

Defensive Upside: With a 7'6" wingspan, Sorber can be a disruptive defensive presence. He put up strong steal and block rates at Georgetown.

Weaknesses

3 of 3
COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FEB 04 Georgetown at Xavier

Athleticism: Sorber lacks vertical explosion for a player who measured 6'9" and will have to play center.

Shooting: He took a good number of jump shots at Georgetown, but he didn't make many. Some may have concerns about a 5 at his height without any promising shooting indicators.

Transition: Sorber didn't get out in transition much, and he may not fit as well in schemes or rotations that focus on pushing the pace.
