The regular season MVP averaged 30.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game in the series, topping 30 points in five of the seven games—including a 38-point showing in Game 1 and 29 points in the decisive Game 7 to seal the title.

Along with 29 points, Gilgeous-Alexander tallied five rebounds, 12 assists, one steal and two blocks, shooting 8-of-27 from the field and hitting 11-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Third-year standout Jalen Williams delivered a stellar Finals performance of his own, highlighted by a 40-point explosion in Game 5, but the Finals MVP was never in doubt—it belonged to SGA.

However, SGA made it clear he plans to share the Finals MVP honor with Jalen Williams, as the two cemented themselves as one of the most prolific duos in NBA history.

As the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP trophy was handed to Gilgeous-Alexander, fans erupted across social media, celebrating the Thunder star’s well-deserved recognition to top off his incredible season.

While SGA walked away with a hardware case full of trophies this season, it was the young Oklahoma City Thunder squad as a whole that put together a remarkable postseason run—storming past some of the league’s biggest names. They knocked off the former champs in Denver, dominated Memphis and outlasted a gritty Minnesota team. But none of it would’ve been possible without the brilliance of Gilgeous-Alexander.

However, the 26-year-old remained coy, praising his teammates and the fans after receiving the honors.

"A lot of hardworking a lot of hours in the gym this isn't just a win for me this is a win for my family, this is a win for my friends, this is a win everybody that was in my corner growing up, this is a win for my fans, the best fans in the world. I love you guys," SGA said.

The franchise’s only previous championship came in 1979 as the Seattle SuperSonics. That year, Hall of Famer Dennis “Airplane” Johnson— a three-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star — earned Finals MVP honors for his standout performance.

Since relocating from Seattle ahead of the 2008–09 season, the Thunder had come up short in their pursuit of a title—until this historic run.
