Rafael Devers Talks Hitting 1st HR with Giants vs. Red Sox in Video After Trade
Rafael Devers said he knew immediately after hitting the first home run of his San Francisco Giants career on Saturday against his former teammates on the Boston Red Sox that the ball was going out of Oracle Park.
On Friday, Devers went 0-for-5 against his former club after he was robbed of a potential hit in the third inning by Ceddane Rafaela.
This time Devers' hit was hard enough to make it over the wall for the first time since last weekend's blockbuster trade from the Red Sox.

Trades for Teams in Danger of Selling Off 2026 🤔
"I kind of knew that the one from last night was not going to go out. I already knew it. But I know, once I hit one like I did today, it is going to go out," Devers said through Giants interpreter Erwin Higueros after the Giants' 3-2 win over the Red Sox (h/t KNBR.)
Devers, who received a standing ovation before his first at-bat against his former team, expressed his appreciation for both Giants and Red Sox fans after Saturday's win.
"As we know, San Francisco and Boston have the greatest fans, both," Devers said through Higueros. "Now that I'm on this side, I really do appreciate how they have received me. But let's not forget how good the fans in Boston are too."
The Giants acquired Devers last weekend in exchange for pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison as well as prospects James Tibbs III and Jose Bello.
Devers told reporters through Higueros shortly after the trade that he felt "happy" and "relaxed" after his trade to the Giants ended what appeared to be an increasingly tense relationship with the Red Sox.
The Giants will now hope to see Devers build on Saturday's home run by helping his new club threaten the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers for the top spot in the NL West.
