Reds' Elly De La Cruz Vomits on Field vs. Cardinals Amid Extreme Heat Warning
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz threw up in the middle of the team's clash with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, per MLB.com's John Denton.
De La Cruz vomited in the bottom of the fourth inning, which caused the game to momentarily stop as trainers attended to him. The temperature was 92 degrees at first pitch and the heat index was "expected" to reach triple digits during the day, via Denton.
De La Cruz remained in the game afterwards.

The 23-year-old may have been winded due to his plate appearance in the third inning, as he hit a triple before he was eventually thrown out while trying to stretch it to an inside-the-park home run.
De La Cruz didn't seem to be hampered the rest of the game, though.
In the top of the seventh inning, he hit a go-ahead home run that gave Cincinnati a 4-2 advantage over St. Louis.
After earning an All-Star nod while leading the majors with 67 stolen bases in 2024, De La Cruz has remained a key piece of the Reds' lineup to start his 2025 campaign.
In 76 games entering Saturday's action, De La Cruz racked up 16 home runs, 21 steals and 50 RBIs while posting a .263/.344/.478 slash line.
He's continued to step up recently, recording five homers and 10 RBIs to go along with a .968 OPS over his past 20 appearances.
While De La Cruz had to throw up during the Reds' battle with the Cardinals on Saturday, it didn't stop him from making an impact later in the contest.
