Zach Penrod Traded to Dodgers from Red Sox After Rafael Devers to Giants
The Boston Red Sox have traded left-handed pitcher Zach Penrod to the Los Angeles Dodgers, MassLive's Chris Cotillo reported Friday.
Boston designated Penrod for assignment last Sunday in order to make 40-man roster space after pitchers Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks were acquired in last week's blockbuster trade of Rafael Devers.
Penrod posted a 2.25 ERA through seven games and 4.0 innings pitched with the Red Sox last season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Boston had the pitching depth to risk losing him to waivers or a trade after signing relievers Aroldis Chapman and Justin Wilson ahead of the 2025 season.
Those two have since combined with Garrett Whitlock and Greg Weissert to form one of the strongest bullpens in MLB.
That depth in addition to injury issues delayed Penrod's return to MLB after he struck out three batters and walked four in his brief Red Sox stint last season.
After being sidelined for the beginning of the 2025 season with a left elbow sprain, Penrod was activated from the IL and optioned to Triple-A Worcester in May.
He has posted a 5.68 ERA through six games and 6.1 Triple-A innings pitched when available this season.
Penrod will potentially report to Triple-A Oklahoma City after he reports to the Dodgers, but could eventually get another call-up to the majors if the reigning World Series champions are seeking left-handed bullpen help down the stretch.
The Dodgers bullpen currently ranks 18th in MLB at the time of the trade with a combined 4.07 ERA through 76 games.
Penrod went undrafted before signing with the Texas Rangers in 2018. He spent two seasons with the Pioneer League before signing with the Red Sox in 2023.
