The United States Men's National Team earned a second consecutive win in the 2025 Gold Cup group stage on Thursday night, defeating Saudi Arabia by the final score of 1-0.

Fans were impressed with the performance from Richards and the rest of the U.S. squad.

Richards also made a key play earlier in the match, as Abdulrahman Al-Aboud had a breakaway chance in the 30th minute before a slick recovery and tackle was made by the 25-year-old.

The USMNT dominated the ball throughout the first half but struggled to find opportunities on goal, recording a mere two shots during the first 45 minutes of action.

Despite some occasional mistakes, the United States' set defense was sharp throughout Thursday's action. Saudi Arabia finished the match with just one shot on goal.

Things got chippy between both teams as the match started to wind down, leading to the coaches of the respective squads stepping in and helping deescalate the situation.

The USMNT held 67.3 percent of possession, finishing with five shots and three shots on goal. The United States also racked up 10 fouls compared to seven for Saudi Arabia.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino's group has now advanced to the Gold Cup quarterfinals and will face either Costa Rica or Mexico in the knockout round.

First, the USMNT will wrap up the group stage against Haiti on Sunday.
