Real Madrid Pre-Season Schedule 2015: Fixtures, Dates, Live Stream and TV Info

Tom SunderlandJul 12, 2015

Real Madrid are in a race to dust off the cobwebs following a trophyless campaign and start from fresh under new manager Rafa Benitez, beginning with a busy 2015-16 pre-season schedule.

Los Merengues sacked Carlo Ancelotti in the wake of last season's disappointments, but the summer brings with it a chance to examine one's weaknesses and how best to improve them.

Real have organised seven pre-season meetings in total, competing against the likes of Manchester City, Roma and Milan in the International Champions Cup before heading to Munich for the 2015 Audi Cup.

Los Blancos Hoping to Retain Class of 2014-15

Although their failure to clinch silverware might suggest last season was a bust for Real, the club aren't looking to instil massive change throughout their squad in the build-up to the new season.

Iker Casillas' move to Porto brings an end to the goalkeeper's 25-year association with the Bernabeu, per ESPN FC, but the No. 1 spot could well be the main source of transition this summer:

Goal's Stephen Darwin reported on Sunday that Sergio Ramos had been named in Benitez's squad for the pre-season tour of Australia, where Real will face Manchester City and Roma in the first leg of their ICC campaign.

The new manager will look upon the current crop of players as one he can certainly mould to challenge once again for elite titles this season. After all, not much has changed from the team that clinched La Decima and the Copa del Rey in 2014.

The acquisition of Brazil right-back Danilo promises to give the squad a boost in defence, but the attacking trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale still sits as one of the most daunting in the world.

A steady pre-season without much alteration could be hugely beneficial for the club, and although fans like to see business being done, minimal change and more solidifying poses for optimum improvement this summer.

New Chances For Old Faces

Along with the arrival of Danilo this summer has come the return of Casemiro and Lucas Vazquez, who were purchased by Porto and Espanyol, respectively, only for the club to exercise buyback options on both.

Los Blancos' official Twitter account was sure to celebrate the returns of the promising pair, who have each found their chances in the first team limited in the past:

That being said, pre-season is regarded as an open book where even fringe prospects can have their moment, and if either player is to feature as a Real player in 2015-16, now is the time to impress.

Real Madrid Info confirmed Casemiro will join up with the squad later in the tour after playing his part in Brazil's Copa America campaign:

German Bona of Spanish newspaper Sport reported that Benitez personally requested Vasquez be brought back to the Bernabeu, signalling the Spanish tactician has plans for the winger yet.

The elite pedigree of Real's summer opponents means both hopefuls will get their chances to prove their credentials, hoping to outdo some of the more expensive names in the squad and stake their claim in Real's reckoning.
