Former Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III Apologizes to Family of Woman He Killed in Car Crash
Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has apologized to the family of Tina Tintor, the woman he killed in a car crash in 2021.
Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal shared Ruggs' remarks during a Hope for Prisoners event:
"One, I wish I could turn back the hands of time," he said. "I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something. I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it's always in the newspaper. So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me."
Ruggs pleaded guilty in 2023 to one count of driving while impaired, resulting in death, and another count of vehicular manslaughter. He received a sentence of three to 10 years.
Prosecutors said Ruggs was traveling 156 mph shortly before colliding into the Toyota RAV4 being driven by Tintor. His blood alcohol level was also 0.161, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.
Tintor and her dog burned to death at the scene.
The Raiders cut Ruggs hours after the crash. A first-round pick in the 2020 draft, he caught 50 passes for 921 yards and four touchdowns in 20 appearances with the team.
