
Orioles DH Thanks Red Sox's Breslow After Devers Trade Reshapes AL All-Star Voting
Baltimore Orioles slugger Ryan O'Hearn made sure to give a quick thanks to Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow for indirectly boosting his 2025 MLB All-Star bid.
Rafael Devers was far and away the voting leader among American League designated hitters when the first returns dropped. With Devers' trade to the San Francisco Giants, however, O'Hearn moved into the top spot ahead of the New York Yankees' Ben Rice.
Breslow's assist didn't go unnoticed by the 31-year-old:

O'Hearn is in the midst of a career year. He has 10 home runs, 27 RBI and a .306/.386/.495 slash line through 59 games.
As one of the few bright spots on a disappointing Orioles team, the veteran first baseman/DH may not have needed Devers' exit to make the AL All-Star team. His 1.8 WAR are the most for a Baltimore player, per FanGraphs, so he could the franchise's lone representative at the Midsummer Classic in Atlanta.
Whether that proves true, there's no question O'Hearn has a much clearer path with Devers now out of the picture.
