Trevor Story 'Shocked' by Rafael Devers Trade, Talks 'Weird' Timing of Red Sox Deal
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story told reporters he was "just as shocked as everyone else" by the team’s decision to trade Rafael Devers.
Story added that the timing felt "weird," coming right after the Red Sox swept their AL East rivals, the New York Yankees, and topped off a five-game win streak.
According to Story, the only member of the front office who has addressed the team so far is manager Alex Cora.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Mere hours after completing a sweep of the Yankees on Sunday, the Red Sox stunned the baseball world by trading franchise cornerstone Devers to the San Francisco Giants.
In return, Boston received a package headlined by right-hander Jordan Hicks, left-hander Kyle Harrison (optioned to Triple-A), outfield prospect James Tibbs III and right-handed pitching prospect Jose Bello.
The timing of the move couldn’t have been more bewildering—both to fans and, seemingly, to members of the team.
Boston was riding its first five-game win streak since early in the season, had just toppled its biggest rivals and had finally climbed back above .500. The bombshell trade sent shockwaves across the league, casting a cloud over what had been a weekend of momentum and optimism at Fenway.
Following their game against the Yankees and the news of the Devers trade, the Red Sox immediately boarded a flight to the West Coast to begin a lengthy road trip.
The stretch kicks off Monday night in Seattle and, in a twist of fate, continues Friday with a series against the Giants
Boston will open its first game without Devers on Monday at 9:40 p.m. ET, with Kristian Campbell stepping into the designated hitter role.
