San Diego Padres All-Star outfielder Jackson Merrill has been placed on the seven-day injured list after sustaining a concussion during Saturday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, per the Associated Press.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the seventh inning while attempting to steal second base. As he slid headfirst, his helmet collided with the tag from Ketel Marte. Merrill remained down for several minutes before walking off the field under his own power. He was replaced by Brandon Lockridge.
