Chiefs' Travis Kelce Reportedly Lost 'About 25 Pounds' During 2025 NFL Offseason

Adam WellsJun 14, 2025

Coming off the worst season of his career since his rookie campaign when he played just one game due to an injury, Travis Kelce has reportedly shed some weight in the offseason to get back on track in 2025.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Kansas City Chiefs star has lost "about 25 pounds" going into the start of mandatory minicamp next week.

Following the Chiefs' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, there was speculation that Kelce could retire from the NFL.

Kelce ended the suspense on Feb. 27 in a text message to Pat McAfee, writing he was coming back and wanted to "get in the best shape of my life this offseason."

The Chiefs have Kelce listed at 250 pounds, so assuming that's accurate, his weight loss would put him around 225 going into minicamp. It could be the least he has weighed since entering the NFL in 2013. His combine profile had his weight at 255 pounds.

Kelce has lost some of the explosiveness that made him one of the most-dominant pass-catchers in the NFL for nearly a decade. He had the fewest receiving yards (823), yards per catch (8.5) and touchdowns (three) of his career last season, excluding his rookie year in 2013 when he only played one snap on special teams due to a knee injury.

Heading into his age-36 season, it would be unreasonable to think Kelce will return to the form that allowed him to have seven consecutive years with at least 1,000 yards and average eight touchdowns per season from 2016 to '22.

But the work Kelce put in this offseason to improving his body at least gives him a shot to get back to that level for a Chiefs team that will attempt to join the 1990 to '93 Buffalo Bills as the only teams to reach the Super Bowl in four consecutive years.
