Chris Kreider Reportedly Told Rangers GM He Was 'Amenable' to Ducks Trade Amid Rumors

The Anaheim Ducks being on Chris Kreider's no-trade list might not stop the veteran New York Rangers winger from heading to Southern California.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported on Wednesday that Rangers general manager Chris Drury had been informed Kreider would be "amenable to going to Anaheim" prior to any negotiations taking place.

"After being informed last night of the prospective deal, Kreider is now processing it all and going through his due diligence before he signs off on it," Brooks wrote, adding that there is "no separation" between Kreider and the Rangers.

The Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli initially reported on Wednesday that the Rangers were in "advanced talks" with the Ducks regarding a potential Kreider trade.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun later added that the Ducks were on Kreider's 15-team no-trade list and that he would need to waive the clause to complete a deal.

According to Seravalli, the most recent trade talks involved the Ducks sending over 2023 second-round pick Carey Terrance and taking on the entirety of Kreider's remaining contract.

The Rangers would also be set to receive a draft pick in a recent proposal, according to ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Kreider has two years remaining on the seven-year, $45.5 million deal he signed with the Rangers ahead of the 2020-21 season. He is owed $6.5 million per season.

After three straight seasons with at least 35 goals, including a career-best 52-goal campaign in 2021-22, Kreider took a step back last season as he dealt with multiple injuries.

Kreider dealt with back issues and an illness causing vertigo early in the season, and then he suffered a left hand injury in February that he later told NHL.com's Dan Rosen might require surgery.

The winger still scored 22 goals in 68 games despite his injuries and a general slump from the Rangers' best playmakers, leaving open the possibility he could enjoy a more productive age-34 campaign if healthy next season.

The Ducks could also be hoping Kreider will serve as a veteran presence with playoff experience for a young team looking to break into the postseason for the first time since 2018.

Drury reportedly included Kreider's name alongside former team captain Jacob Trouba's in a leaguewide November memo informing the other 31 teams the Rangers were available for a trade. Trouba was dealt to the Ducks just over two weeks after the memo was reportedly sent.

Kreider could now be set to join both Trouba and former teammate Ryan Strome in Anaheim if he waives his no-trade clause and both teams are able to finalize trade terms. Seravalli noted that Kreider is believed to "have interest" in working with former Chicago Blackhawks and current Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville.
