Deion Sanders Says He's 'Okay' amid Health Issues, 'Excited' to Return to Colorado

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has reassured everyone he is doing well amid his recent health issues.

Coach Prime posted on X that he's "okay" and is "excited" to join his team in Boulder, at which point he will also provide an update "on everything" that has been going on.

There was concern about the 57-year-old's health recently after USA Today's Brent Schrotenboer reported on Tuesday that he remained at his estate in Texas with an unspecified illness as Colorado opened summer football camps last week.

Deion Sanders Jr. said in a YouTube livestream over the weekend his father was "feeling well" and would provide an update on his health at some point.

"He'll tell y'all soon enough what he going through, what he went through," Deion Jr. said.

There is currently no timetable for Sanders to join the Buffaloes. The summer camps are a series of non-contact events for kids as young as third grade up to high school seniors, organized by the football program and led by Colorado's coaching staff.

Events began on June 3 with the final one scheduled for June 18.

When he was coaching at Jackson State, Sanders previously had multiple surgeries and two of his toes amputated due to blood clots in his leg during the 2021 season. He had another surgery to remove a blood clot in his right leg in July 2023.

The next major dates on the calendar will be July 8-9 when the Big 12 will hold its annual media days event in Frisco, Texas. Colorado will likely begin team practices in early August.

Colorado's first game of the 2025 season will be played on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field.

Sanders led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record last year. It was their most wins in a single season since 2016 (10-4).
