Updated MLB Top 100 Prospect List for June 2025
It's time for the first update of the year to our Top 100 MLB prospects list, with multiple players graduating to the majors, some falling off the list due to poor performance and a large group moving into the rankings for the first time thanks to a hot start to the 2025 campaign.
The following factors helped determine where each player fell in our rankings:
Potential:Â Potential trumps production a lot of the time, especially in the lower levels of the minors and with recent draft picks. Skill set and tools are often better indicators of what a player will become.
Talent:Â For prospects in the higher levels of the minors who are close to breaking into the big leagues, production and talent level were the determining factors since those players are viewed as more complete products.
Eligibility:Â A player must maintain rookie eligibility to be considered for inclusion. That means no more than 130 big league at-bats for position players, 50 innings for pitchers or 45 days on the active roster.
Let's start with the next 100 prospects who fell just outside the rankings.

-A 2022 fourth-round pick who put together a forgettable 2024 season at Double-A, Ryan Ritter exploded out of the gates this year at Triple-A with a .305/.413/.635 line while tallying 13 doubles, 16 home runs and 45 RBI in 52 games. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut on June 6, and he has been handling starting shortstop duties with Ezequiel Tovar nursing an oblique injury.
-Connor Prielipp missed his draft season at Alabama recovering from Tommy John surgery and then underwent an internal brace procedure after making just two starts in his pro debut in 2023, but he returned strong last year with a 2.70 ERA and a 41-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 23.1 innings. The 24-year-old has continued to impress at Double-A this season, though he is currently dealing with a blister.
-One of the top prep arms in the 2019 draft class, Hunter Barco honored his commitment to the University of Florida where he ended up having to navigate the pandemic and Tommy John surgery. Durability remains a concern, but he has pitched well at every minor league stop, and he has a 1.69 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 52 strikeouts in 37.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this year.

-Last year, Starlyn Caba was a breakout prospect in the lower levels of the Phillies system, and this season it's Aroon Escobar turning heads at Single-A Clearwater. The 20-year-old is hitting .315/.416/.508 with eight doubles, 10 home runs and 31 RBI in 50 games this year, building off a strong stateside debut a year ago when he hit .338/.495/.481 across 104 plate appearances in rookie ball.
-The Braves took three prep pitchers inside the top-60 picks in 2022. Owen Murphy (No. 20 overall) is recovering from Tommy John surgery and Cole Phillips (No. 57 overall) was traded to the Mariners, leaving JR Ritchie as the only one currently toeing the rubber in the Atlanta organization. The 21-year-old has a 1.92 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 61 innings between High-A and Double-A.
-The Astros have a strong track record of developing under-the-radar arms with big fastballs, and Miguel Ullola fits the mold. The 22-year-old was signed for $75,000 in 2021, and he has used a 70-grade fastball and a terrific slider to consistently miss bats. He has a 3.19 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 42.1 innings at Triple-A this year, and 501 punchouts in 359.2 innings across his five years in the minors.

-One of the better pitching prospects in the Royals system heading into the season, Noah Cameron made history when he became the first pitcher since 1893 to go at least 6.1 innings and allow one earned run or fewer in each of his first four MLB starts. Even after getting hit hard by the Yankees on Tuesday, he still has a 2.17 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 37.1 innings over his first six outings.
-Ryan Waldschmidt hit .333/.469/.610 with 14 home runs and terrific batted-ball data during his junior season at Kentucky, and the D-backs took him with the No. 31 overall pick in last year's draft. The 22-year-old is batting .281/.435/.482 with 21 extra-base hits and more walks (47) than strikeouts (44) through 58 games at High-A Hillsboro.
-The offensive leader of the 2024 Tennessee squad that won the College World Series, Christian Moore posted a 1.248 OPS with 34 home runs and 74 RBI in 72 games before going No. 8 overall in last year's draft. The 22-year-old is already playing at the Triple-A level, where he is hitting .350/.424/.575 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 20 games since he was promoted in May.

61. SS Franklin Arias, BOS
-Left-hander Gage Jump has been the biggest breakout pitching prospect of the 2025 season, delivering on the potential he showed as a prep standout at JSerra Catholic before an injury-plagued college career. The 22-year-old has a 1.64 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and an 80-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 60.1 innings between High-A and Double-A.
-Trey Yesavage was the fourth pitcher taken in the 2024 draft when the Blue Jays selected him at No. 20 overall, behind only Chase Burns (No. 2), Hagen Smith (No. 5) and Jurrangelo Cijntje (No. 15). The 6'4", 225-pound right-hander fits the prototypical workhorse mold, and he has steamrolled lower-level competition with a 2.13 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 88 strikeouts in 50.2 innings between Single-A and High-A.
-With Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer all now playing for the MLB club, it's only a matter of time before Franklin Arias is the new No. 1 prospect in the Red Sox system. The 19-year-old is one of the youngest everyday players in the High-A South Atlantic League, and he is hitting .342/.391/.461 on the year in 238 plate appearances between Single-A and High-A.

-It was Brandon Sproat who headlined the Mets farm system heading into the season, but an ugly start to the year at Triple-A has knocked him off the Top 100 list. Meanwhile, Jonah Tong (11 GS, 1.99 ERA, 91 K, 54.1 IP at AA) and Nolan McLean (11 G, 9 GS, 1.98 ERA, 62 K, 59.0 IP at AA/AAA) have overtaken him as the club's top pitching prospects while climbing onto the Top 100 list for the first time.
-Kumar Rocker flew up prospect rankings during an electric return from Tommy John surgery last season that ended with three promising starts in the majors and set him up to break camp with a spot in the starting rotation. However, after struggling to an 8.87 ERA in 23.1 innings and dealing with a shoulder issue, he is back at Triple-A for further development.
-Overshadowed by Yohandy Morales during his time at the University of Miami, C.J. Kayfus was a third-round pick in 2023, and he has done nothing but hit since beginning his pro career. The 23-year-old had a .904 OPS with 17 home runs and 92 RBI last season, and he is batting .325/.409/.545 with 25 extra-base hits in 53 games in the upper levels of the minors this year.

-While JesĂşs Made has received the bulk of the attention from Milwaukee's 2024 international haul, Luis PeĂąa is also quickly making a name for himself on the prospect landscape. The 18-year-old batted .393 over 44 games in the DSL last year, and he jumped straight to Single-A for his stateside debut this season where he is hitting .329/.384/.521 with 15 extra-base hits and 26 steals in 37 games.
-An imposing 6'6", 232-pound right-hander with power stuff, Travis Sykora has emerged as one of the top high school arms from a 2023 draft class that was headlined by Marlins prospects Noble Meyer and Thomas White. The 21-year-old has a 1.13 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and a 45-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 24 innings to start the year after missing time early with a hip injury.
-After piling up 161 strikeouts in 84 innings during his junior season at Arkansas and going No. 5 overall in the 2025 draft, left-hander Hagen Smith is quickly rising the ranks in the White Sox farm system. The 21-year-old opened the year at Double-A, where he posted a 2.10 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 25.2 innings before he was sidelined with elbow soreness, and it's worth mentioning he also walked 20 batters.

-Hyped as perhaps the best pure hitter in the 2024 draft class, Theo Gillen is hitting .281/.432/.439 with nine extra-base hits, 19 steals and a healthy 18.9 percent walk rate in his first full professional season at Single-A. He is still just scratching the surface of his 60-hit, 55-power offensive profile.
-With Jasson DomĂnguez finally no longer a prospect, George Lombard Jr. is now the headliner in the Yankees system. The 20-year-old hit .329/.495/.488 over 111 plate appearances at High-A to earn a quick promotion to Double-A in early May. And after a rocky start against tougher competition, he is 8-for-19 with a double and a home run over his last five games.
-The Cubs paid a steep price to acquire Michael Busch prior to the 2024 season, sending left-hander Jackson Ferris (No. 70 on B/R Top 100) and outfielder Zyhir Hope the other way. Hope, 20, is hitting .300/.403/.488 with 23 extra-base hits in 58 games at High-A, and he still has a wealth of untapped power potential.

21. SS Carson Williams, TB
-A strong season from veteran Carson Kelly has created something of a road block for MoisÊs Ballesteros, but that's a good problem for the Cubs to have right now. The 21-year-old is hitting .337/.387/.510 with 21 extra-base hits in 230 plate appearances at Triple-A, and he went 3-for-16 with three RBI during a brief call-up in May.
-JJ Wetherholt was a candidate to go No. 1 overall in the 2024 draft heading into last spring, but he ended up slipping to the Cardinals at No. 7 overall where he is quickly shaping up to be a steal. He is hitting .312/.430/.465 with 15 extra-base hits and eight steals in 44 games at Double-A, and he is splitting his time between second base and shortstop.
-Left-hander Thomas White checks all the boxes to be the future ace of the staff in Miami, and the 20-year-old has a 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 31 innings at High-A to open the year. A walk rate that sits just below 13 percent still needs to improve, but his upside stacks up to any pitching prospect in the sport.

11. SS JesĂşs Made, MIL
-It remains to be seen if Max Clark will make enough of an offensive impact to be a star, and his .364 slugging percentage this year backs that up, but his speed, on-base ability and defense give him a high floor. Still only 20 years old, he has a ton of upside remaining, but there are a wide range of potential outcomes.
-With one of the best hit tools in the minors, Colt Emerson is the headliner in a deep Seattle farm system, and he reached High-A in his age-18 campaign a year ago. The 19-year-old is hitting a lackluster .242/.344/.374 in 250 plate appearances at High-A to open the year, but he is still miles ahead of the developmental curve.
-Samuel Basallo is only 20 years old and already playing at the Triple-A level where he has a .938 OPS with 13 home runs in 40 games. He has split his time evenly between catcher (11 games), first base (10 games) and designated hitter (17 games), and it's his bat that will carry him to the majors, but it remains to be seen how he fits into Baltimore's lineup picture.

1. OF Roman Anthony, BOS
-After hitting .291/.374/.516 with 27 doubles, 23 home runs and 92 RBI last year while reaching Triple-A as a teenager, Bryce Eldridge firmly established himself as one of the game's elite offensive prospects. He posted an .862 OPS in 34 games at Double-A to earn a promotion to Triple-A earlier this month, and he could be in San Francisco in short order.
-The No. 2 overall pick in last year's draft, Chase Burns has been utterly dominant in his pro debut, posting a 1.68 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and a 75-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 53.2 innings between High-A and Double-A. With a fastball that bumps 102 mph and a wicked slider among his electric four-pitch repertoire, he could be a superstar on the mound.
-The Padres gave Leo De Vries a $4.2 million bonus as the top prospect in the 2024 international class, and after making his pro debut at Single-A last year, he has continued to hold his own as an 18-year-old at High-A. Through 48 games, he is hitting .257/.352/.432 with 19 extra-base hits in 214 plate appearances. He could be the No. 1 prospect in baseball at the start of the 2026 season.
