Aaron Rodgers Addressed Steelers Players, Told Teammates He's 'All In From Now On'

Adam WellsJun 10, 2025

Aaron Rodgers has assured his new Pittsburgh Steelers teammates that he's ready to do all he can to help them be successful in 2025.

Steelers center Zach Frazier told reporters on Tuesday that Rodgers addressed the players prior to their first mandatory minicamp practice to say he's "all in from now on."

After an extended wait, Rodgers finally ended all of the suspense about his future on Saturday by signing a one-year deal with the Steelers.

The move had been expected for months, to the point that Steelers owner Art Rooney II publicly expressed optimism Rodgers would sign going back to the beginning of April.

Rodgers said during an appearance on the May 22 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience that one reason he was waiting to sign is because people close to him were dealing with cancer and he didn't necessarily want to commit to a team at that point.

There really hasn't been anything significant Rodgers missed by waiting until the weekend to sign. Teams did go through voluntary organized team activities in late-May and the first week of June, but Rodgers has frequently skipped that portion of the offseason calendar in the past anyway.

Last year Rodgers actually attended OTAs before skipping mandatory minicamp with the New York Jets. Even though it was known ahead of time he was going to be absent, then-head coach Robert Saleh described it as "unexcused."

Rodgers wasted no time in bonding with some of his new Steelers teammates. He was photographed with Cam Heyward and DK Metcalf at Heyward's charity golf event on Monday.

The Steelers are betting on Rodgers being an upgrade over what they got out of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields last season. That duo combined for 3,588 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions in 17 starts. They also ran for 444 yards and seven touchdowns.

Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 starts for the Jets in 2024. His 48.0 QBR ranked 25th out of 32 qualified quarterbacks. Wilson was 22nd at 51.3. Fields didn't have enough reps to qualify, but his QBR was 50.8 in 10 games.

History has shown if the Steelers can just get competent quarterback play, they are going to be in the playoff mix in the AFC. Ideally, Rodgers would play well enough so they can win a playoff game for the first time since the 2016 season.

The Steelers have lost six consecutive playoff games, with their last four losses decided by an average of 15.0 points.
