Windhorst Believes Kevin Durant Will Be Traded in 'Coming Weeks' Amid Knicks Rumors
Kevin Durant's time with the Phoenix Suns appears to be nearing its conclusion.
Speaking Tuesday on Get Up, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst expressed his belief that the Suns will trade Durant "in the coming weeks."

Windhorst's report comes on the heels of ESPN's Bobby Marks reporting that the Suns are "likely" to reset their roster this offseason, with a Durant trade being the first major domino to fall.
Rumors have swirled around Durant dating back to the 2024-25 NBA trade deadline, and it was recently reported by ESPN's Shams Charania that the New York Knicks were among the teams that expressed interest in KD at the deadline.
Charania noted that no trade came together despite there being "mutual interest" between Durant and the Knicks.
It was also reported around the time of the deadline by Charania that the Golden State Warriors made a play for Durant, but KD had no interest in a reunion with the Warriors, so the trade didn't come to fruition, and Golden State turned its attention to Jimmy Butler instead.
The Suns acquired Durant in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2022-23 season in hopes of returning to the NBA Finals.
However, the Suns were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs during his first season with the team and then knocked out in the first round the following season.
With a core of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns had high hopes entering the 2024-25 campaign, but they were among the NBA's biggest disappointments, going 36-46 and missing the postseason.
Durant was among the team's lone bright spots, as the 36-year-old veteran averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.6 three-pointers made and 1.2 blocks per game.
With 15 All-Star selections, four scoring titles, two NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVP Awards and one NBA MVP Award to his credit, Durant has long been established as an all-time great and a future Hall of Famer.
He is still playing at a high level, but if his goal is to contend for another title, a trade is likely necessary since the Suns are moving in the wrong direction.
Durant is set to enter the final year of his contract in 2025-26, meaning any team that acquires him would be getting a potential rental unless they work out an extension as part of the trade.
That could negatively impact what the Suns get in return, although KD still figures to have a robust market with Charania reporting that four to six teams are "seriously interested."
Windhorst noted that it isn't clear if Durant's input will be considered in trade conversations, but if it is, that could somewhat limit the number of teams that have a realistic chance of landing him.
