Connor McDavid Says Oilers Haven't Played Their Best vs. Panthers, 'But It's Coming'
The Edmonton Oilers took Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final but have since lost back-to-back games, putting them in a 2-1 hole in the series.
The Oilers clearly haven't been the best version of themselves, but star Connor McDavid believes the best version of his team will arrive eventually.
"I don't think our best has shown up all series long, but it's coming," he said after Monday's loss, per The Athletic's Chris Johnston.

The Game 3 loss to the Panthers was especially rough for the Oilers. The frazzled squad picked up 21 penalties, totaling 85 minutes of penalties. The Panthers made them pay for all of those penalties, scoring three goals during power plays.
The dominant win for Florida gave it all the momentum heading into a pivotal Game 4 in which the Panthers could take a 3-1 series lead on home ice.
The Oilers need more from the team as a whole, and it starts with McDavid. The three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner had a decent showing in Games 1 and 2, picking up five points between the two contests, but he was quiet on Monday, getting just two shots off and contributing little on offense.
If McDavid can find his rhythm in Game 4, his energy should carry over to his teammates as they look to even the series.
