Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky fell to the Indiana Fever on Saturday night 79-52 as the Fever hit the floor without Caitlin Clark.

Despite the Sky’s struggles, Reese finished with four points, 12 rebounds and two assists on 2-of-7 shooting from the field. Kamilla Cardoso led the charge for the starting-five with eight points, shooting 2-of-5 from the field.

Hailey Van Lith contributed eight points off the bench, including an impressive and-one, along with two rebounds and one assist.

With the loss, Chicago has gone 0-2 against the Fever, first falling 93-58 in their season opener.

Kelsey Mitchell stepped up for the Fever, registering 17 points in the win, while Natasha Howard added 13 and Aliyah Boston chipped in 11.

Clark has been sidelined since the team’s May 24 loss to the New York Liberty after suffering a left quad strain. The Fever have gone 2-2 in her absence.

The Sky dropped to 2-5 on the season while the Fever climbed to 4-4 with a convincing road win.

Chicago fell into an early 7-2 hole before back-to-back buckets from Cardoso and Reese cut the lead to one and helped avoid an early blowout. Still, the Fever controlled the pace, holding the Sky to just 13 first-quarter points and building an eight-point lead heading into the second.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern, as Chicago struggled to stop Indiana’s runs and trailed by 13 at halftime.

The third quarter proved even more lopsided despite a tough finish by Ariel Atkins out of the gate.

The Sky were limited to just 11 points— their lowest scoring period of the game— while the Fever poured in 27. Reese recorded two rebounds and two assists in the frame, but it wasn’t enough to spark a rally.

By the fourth, the deficit had ballooned to nearly 20 points. With no signs of a comeback, Chicago pulled its starters midway through the quarter and effectively waved the white flag.

The Sky will look to regroup on Tuesday as they head to New York to face the red-hot Liberty.
