Paige Bueckers Out for Wings vs. Lynx with Illness After Clearing Concussion Protocol

Julia StumbaughJun 7, 2025

Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers will miss Sunday's game against the Minnesota Lynx with an illness, the team announced.

The absence comes after Bueckers cleared concussion protocol after sitting out three straight games with the injury, the team announced Saturday.

Bueckers was listed as probable for Sunday night's home game, but the team must wait a bit longer for the rookie's return.

The Wings initially announced that Bueckers was placed in concussion protocol one day after a May 29 road loss to the Chicago Sky.

That sidelined her for a minimum of two games, per WNBA protocol. Bueckers sat out a third game on Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks.

It is not clear when Bueckers suffered her concussion. She was involved in what appeared to be a head-to-head collision with the Sky's Courtney Vandersloot in the second quarter of the May 29 loss.

Bueckers stayed in the game and finished out the contest with 15 points, five rebounds and eight assists alongside three steals and three blocks in 36 minutes on the court.

"You know, she didn't really say anything. And then yesterday, after the game, she said she was feeling like she had a headache," head coach coach Chris Koclanes told reporters after Bueckers entered concussion protocol, per CBS Sports' Jack Maloney. "And then said a couple things about, 'I was hit this time and that time.' That was the first of it. So once that was said, then right to the doctor and make sure we are not missing anything."

Bueckers was a non-contact participant in the Wings' Friday practice, per Clutch Points' Joey Mistretta. She also joined her teammates on the court for halftime shooting practice during Friday's loss to the Sparks.

The Wings have gone 1-8 to open the season, including three straight losses in Bueckers' absence.

The team's lone win of the campaign came on May 27, when Bueckers scored a team-high 21 points in a 109-87 win over the Connecticut Sun.

Getting both Bueckers and backup guard Ty Harris, who remains out for Sunday's game with a left knee injury, will be key to helping the Wings get back on track.
