
Brad Marchand Stuns Fans with 2OT Goal as Panthers Beat Oilers in Stanley Cup Final G2
Brad Marchand played double overtime hero for the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final.
Marchand scored on a breakaway 8:04 into the second overtime period late on Friday night to seal the Panthers' 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
The Panthers have tied the series 1-1.

The goal marked Marchand's second breakaway tally of the game. He also scored shorthanded to put the Panthers ahead in the second period.

The Panthers answered minutes later when Eetu Luostarinen's cross-ice pass set up Seth Jones to score into a wide-open net.
Bennett was then called for goaltender interference after a collision with Stuart Skinner.
McDavid made the Panthers pay by dancing past multiple penalty killers to feed Leon Draisaitl at the netfront for another Oilers go-ahead goal late in the first period.
Dmitry Kulikov quieted the Edmonton crowd when he tied the game eight minutes into the second period.
The Oilers had the chance to regain the lead with a power play minutes later.
Anton Lundell responded by forcing a turnover and springing Marchand on his short-handed breakaway to put the Cats back in front instead.
Marchand scored on the 14-year anniversary of the shorthanded goal he scored during the Bruins' Game 3 win over the Vancouver Canucks in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
Sergei Bobrovsky stood tall to keep the Oilers off the board for most of the third period.
But with 17 seconds left and the Oilers' net empty, Corey Perry scored to send the Final to a second straight overtime.
Marchand came within inches of the game-winning goal nine minutes into the first overtime before John Klingberg pulled the puck off the goal line.
After several close calls in both directions, Lundell fed Marchand for the breakaway that put away the game just over eight minutes into the second overtime period.
The Panthers won the first two games of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final in Florida. After splitting the opening road swing 1-1, the reigning champions will hope home-ice advantage can help them take their first lead of the 2025 Final when the puck drops on Monday in Sunrise.
