Russell Wilson Not Focused on Jaxson Dart Potentially Becoming Giants QB1
Russell Wilson told reporters that the Giants' drafting of ex-Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart hasn't changed anything for him as he gets ready for the 2025 season.
"No, it doesn't change anything at all," he answered in response to a question on the matter, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "I think the biggest thing is for me is just being my best every day, leading. I always think about just leading everybody, just leading every room, every moment, every time I get to step between the white lines and the opportunity of that."
The Giants remade their entire quarterback room this spring, first signing veterans Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson to one-year deals in March before adding Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in April.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Obviously, Dart represents the future at the quarterback position in New York, so the question is when he'll get the chance to show his talents. Right now, though, Wilson is the de-facto QB1 on this team, with Raanan reporting on May 28 that the 10-time Pro Bowler "is the New York Giants' clear-cut starting quarterback at organized team activities." Raanan added Thursday that all of Wilson's reps have been with the first-teamers.
One can safely guess that Wilson will be the Giants' starting quarterback when New York takes the field at the Washington Commanders on Sunday, September 7 to open the 2025 season.
However, it's possible Wilson won't end the season as the starting quarterback. In theory, some Giants' struggles could lead to the team giving Dart some reps this year before he takes over for good in 2026.
But for now, though, Wilson is clearly saying and doing all the right things as he assumes a leadership role over the team. Raanan said Wilson has "quickly established himself as a leader and respected voice in the room."
He'll assuredly be helping Dart along the way, but he'll be assisting all of his teammates as well.
"I've always viewed it as you're always trying to be the best version of you, and then you're always giving back to everybody else," Wilson told reporters Thursday. "I think that it's not just about one teammate, it's about all the teammates. It's about everybody in the building. It's about from all the way to the quarterback room, to the receivers, to the running backs, to the tight ends, to the O-line, and the relationship there, all the way to the defensive line, to the corners, and all the way to the training room. ... So it's like, to me, it's all inclusive, and that's always the approach."
The Giants' OTAs will continue on Monday and Tuesday as well as next Thursday and Friday before their mandatory minicamp from June 17-19.
