MLB All-Star Game 2025 Roster Predictions, June Edition
How would the AL and NL All-Star Game rosters look if the Midsummer Classic were played today instead of on July 15?
The last version of our All-Star roster predictions was released May 2, and those picks were based exclusively on expectations for the coming season.
With a two months worth of games now in the books, we can turn our focus to on-field performance rather than track record and expectations.
Using the 32-player roster format, and sticking to the rule of selecting one player from each of the 30 teams, we have assembled our 2025 AL and NL All-Star teams.
For consistency, each roster was made up of 20 position players and 12 pitchers.
Let the debate begin.
AL Starting Lineup

AL Starting Lineup
1. SS Bobby Witt Jr., KC
2. CF Aaron Judge, NYY
3. 3B José Ramírez, CLE
4. C Cal Raleigh, SEA
5. RF Riley Greene, DET
6. 1B Paul Goldschmidt, NYY
7. DH Ryan O'Hearn, BAL
8. 2B Gleyber Torres, DET
9. LF Steven Kwan, CLE
Notes
—Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr., Cal Raleigh and José Ramírez should all be locks for the AL starting lineup, with a clear edge over their positional counterparts in both production and popularity.
—The thinnest position in either league is second base in the AL, with Gleyber Torres and Brandon Lowe the leading candidates to get the start based on production. Torres has a 122 OPS+ and 1.3 WAR in 51 games after signing a one-year, $15 million deal with the Tigers during the offseason.
—The Yankees voting power is enough to predict Paul Goldschmidt starts over Jonathan Aranda (TB), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR), Tyler Soderstrom (ATH) and Spencer Torkelson (DET) in a deep field of AL first basemen. The 37-year-old ranks fifth in the AL batting race with a .323 average.

2B Brandon Lowe, TB
3B Isaac Paredes, HOU
SS Jeremy Peña, HOU
SS Jacob Wilson, ATH
OF Byron Buxton, MIN
OF Trent Grisham, NYY
OF George Springer, TOR
DH Rafael Devers, BOS
Notes
—Jacob Wilson (ATH), Byron Buxton (MIN) and George Springer (TOR) are the only selections for their respective clubs, though all three are putting up All-Star worthy seasons. Wilson is batting .363 as the league's top rookie, Buxton has an .802 OPS and 10 home runs in 47 games, and Springer is enjoying a nice bounce-back season with an .829 OPS and 22 extra-base hits.
—Rookie Carlos Narváez has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 season, seizing an opportunity when Connor Wong was hurt and emerging as one of the most productive backstops in the league. He would be the first Red Sox rookie catcher since Carlton Fisk in 1972 to earn an All-Star selection.
—Some of the toughest omissions on the AL side included catcher Dillon Dingler (DET), first basemen Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR) and Tyler Soderstrom (ATH), third baseman Maikel Garcia (KC), shortstop Zach Neto (LAA), outfielders Wilyer Abreu (BOS), Kerry Carpenter (DET), Wyatt Langford (TEX) and Julio Rodríguez (SEA) and designated hitters Ben Rice (NYY) and Brent Rooker (ATH).

SP Yusei Kikuchi, LAA
SP Tyler Mahle, TEX
SP Tarik Skubal, DET
SP Shane Smith, CWS
RP Carlos Estévez, KC
RP Josh Hader, HOU
RP Andrés Muñoz, SEA
Notes
—Kris Bubic (12 GS, 1.43 ERA, 75.1 IP), Nathan Eovaldi (12 GS, 1.56 ERA, 69.1 IP), Max Fried (13 GS, 1.78 ERA, 81.0 IP), Hunter Brown (12 GS, 1.83 ERA, 73.2 IP) and Garrett Crochet (13 GS, 1.98 ERA, 82.0 IP) all currently have a sub-2.00 ERA and enough innings pitched to qualify for the ERA title. It's a safe bet the AL starter will come from that group.
—Rookie Shane Smith (12 GS, 2.45 ERA, 62.1 IP) and veteran Yusei Kikuchi (13 GS, 3.23 ERA, 69.2 IP) are the lone representatives for their respective teams, with one joining the White Sox as an under-the-radar Rule 5 pick and the other signing with the Angels during the offseason on a three-year, $63 million deal.
—Notable snubs from the AL pitching staff include starters Jacob deGrom (TEX), Drew Rasmussen (TB), Carlos Rodón (NYY), Joe Ryan (MIN) and Bryan Woo (SEA), and relievers Aroldis Chapman (BOS), Jhoan Duran (MIN), Pete Fairbanks (TB), Cade Smith (CLE) and Will Vest (DET).

NL Starting Lineup
1. DH Shohei Ohtani, LAD
2. SS Francisco Lindor, NYM
3. 1B Freddie Freeman, LAD
4. 3B Manny Machado, SD
5. RF Kyle Tucker, CHC
6. LF Corbin Carroll, ARI
7. C Will Smith, LAD
8. 2B Brendan Donovan, STL
9. CF Pete Crow-Armstrong, CHC
—It's a safe bet that Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman will be part of the NL starting lineup, and that would give Freeman a chance to play in front of his old home fans. With four years now passed since he departed in free agency, a nice ovation from the Atlanta crowd seems likely.
—Believer it or not, shortstop Francisco Lindor has yet to make an All-Star team as a member of the New York Mets, with his last trip to the Midsummer Classic coming all the way back in 2019.
—Brendan Donovan vs. Ketel Marte at second base could end up being one of the tighter voting battles, while Kyle Tucker, Pete-Crow Armstrong and Corbin Carroll will need to hold off Fernando Tatis Jr. and rising star James Wood in the NL outfield.

3B Matt Chapman, SF
SS Elly De La Cruz, CIN

OF Fernando Tatis Jr., SD
OF James Wood, WAS
DH Marcell Ozuna, ATL
DH Kyle Schwarber, PHI
Notes
—It's not out of the question to think we could see an NL roster that does not feature Bryce Harper, Mookie Betts or Juan Soto, three of the game's most recognizable stars. Harper made the cut in this round of predictions, but he's behind Freddie Freeman and Pete Alonso among NL first basemen.
—Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman (118 OPS+, 25 XBH, 10 HR, 36 RBI) and Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (128 OPS+, 20 XBH, 10 HR, 33 RBI) are the only selections from two of the worst teams in baseball, though both young sluggers have looked like potential building blocks in the early going this season.
—The biggest snubs among NL position players include catcher Carson Kelly (CHC), shortstops Geraldo Perdomo (ARI) and Masyn Winn (STL), outfielders Oneil Cruz (PIT), Jackson Merrill (SD), Andy Pages (LAD), Heliot Ramos (SF) and Juan Soto (NYM) and designated hitter Seiya Suzuki (CHC).

SP Kodai Senga, NYM
SP Paul Skenes, PIT
SP Zack Wheeler, PHI
SP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, LAD
SP Logan Webb, SF
RP Ben Casparius, LAD
RP Randy Rodríguez, SF
RP Robert Suárez, SD
Notes
—Paul Skenes leads the NL in ERA (2.05), WHIP (0.88), innings pitched (83.1) and opponents' batting average (.181), making him the obvious choice to start on the mound for the NL once again. Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12 GS, 2.39 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 67.2 IP) and Zack Wheeler (12 GS, 2.96 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 76.0 IP) might be next in line if he is unavailable.
—It's often difficult for non-closer relievers to get the recognition they deserve when it comes to All-Star selections, but Ben Casparius (20 G, 7 HLD, 2.54 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 10.2 K/9, 39.0 IP) and Randy Rodriguez (27 G, 7 HLD, 0.64 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 13.7 K/9, 28.1 IP) have both been extremely important to their team's success this year.
—Among the most difficult omissions from the NL pitching staff were starters Andrew Abbott (CIN), Matthew Boyd (CHC), Hunter Greene (CIN), Chad Patrick (MIL), David Peterson (NYM) and Spencer Schwellenbach (ATL), and relievers Edwin Diaz (NYM), Camilo Doval (SF) and Emilio Pagán (CIN).
