Alex Bregman Says Quad Injury Rehab Moving at 'Warp Speed' amid Red Sox Struggles
Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman, who has been out since May 23 with a strained right quad, said that his rehab is moving at "warp speed" per comments made to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe.
Bregman also said his recovery has gone "about 10 times better" than hoped.
The 31-year-old, who joined the Red Sox on a three-year, $120 million contract after nine years with the Houston Astros, has hit .299 (.938 OPS) with 11 home runs and 35 RBI.

Bregman suffered the injury during a 19-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles while running to first base. After that game, the Red Sox were 26-26 amid a stretch of winning four of five contests.
However, the Red Sox have struggled mightily since Bregman landed on the IL on May 24, going 3-8. That included a five-game losing streak which featured a three-game sweep at the Milwaukee Brewers.
It's clear Boston needs him back ASAP. Over his last 10 games, the Red Sox have scored just 26 runs. Obviously, the team's issues extend past the loss of one player, but Boston's season is in some danger down 10 games to the New York Yankees in the AL East and five games in the AL Wild Card race.
Thankfully, Bregman is on the right track, and this doesn't appear nearly as serious as a left quad strain he suffered in 2021, when he missed about 10 weeks.
“It was the exact same thing, but it’s just going really well. So keep plugging along,” Bregman told Abraham. “Obviously, got to respect the injury, but it’s been healing extremely fast, and just got to keep making strides every day and hopefully be back sooner than later.”
In the meantime, the Red Sox are looking to get back in the win column. They'll look to get a victory in a home series against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday at 1:35 p.m. ET after losing the first two at Fenway Park.
