Trevon Diggs in Danger of $500K Salary Cut on Cowboys Contract amid Absence from OTAs
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, who has decided to rehab from his left knee surgery in Miami, could potentially lose $500,000 from his 2025 base salary if he misses more time away from the team.
ESPN's Todd Archer provided the details.
"[Diggs] was not in attendance for the first two phases of the offseason program, and he has not taken part in the organized team activities over the past three weeks.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"According to his contract, Diggs needs to take part in 84.375% of the offseason program in order to avoid the $500,000 de-escalator.
"The Cowboys' mandatory minicamp runs June 10 to 12. Any player who misses the minicamp is subject to fines, as well."
Diggs missed the last six games of the season due to a left knee injury. Per DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer Nick Eatman, Diggs underwent a chondral tissue graft procedure last January.
Diggs signed a five-year, $97 million extension ($33.3 million guaranteed at signing; $42.3 million in total guarantees) that runs through 2028, per Over the Cap. He has a $9 million base salary for 2025.
Diggs has played five NFL seasons. His best year was 2021, when the former Alabama star led the league with 11 interceptions. Diggs is the only player since 1980 to amass 11 or more picks in a single year (Lester Hayes of the then-Oakland Raiders had 13 that season).
That led to All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2022.
Unfortunately, Diggs' 2023 season ended in Week 2 after he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. He played 11 games in the 2024 season, amassing 11 pass breakups, two interceptions and 42 tackles.
So now Diggs is working his way back to the field. Pushing the potential lost money aside, the most important thing is his health. And right now, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is offering good signs.
"It's going good," Schottenheimer said, per DallasCowboys.com staff writer Patrik Walker on Tuesday. "I talked to Trevon last week. He's down in Miami doing some training. No timeline for his return, but he had to come back a couple weeks ago to get checked out by the doc.
"All signs are positive."
Ultimately, a healthy Diggs is a big win for the Cowboys as they look to bounce back from a 7-10 season. Dallas is now under new leadership in Schottenheimer, and the team needs to bounce back from having the second-worst scoring defense in the NFL. For now, though, he continues the rehab process with an eye toward the 2025 season.
