
49ers, Eagles, Jets Among NFL Teams with Most 'Dead Money' on Salary Cap After June 1
Some NFL teams are set to have a hefty amount of salary going towards players not currently on the roster.
Following the June 1 cut day, the list of teams set to pay the most dead money for 2025 was finalized. The San Francisco 49ers are set to pay the most in dead money while the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets round out the top five.

The 49ers lead the pack by a significant margin at $92.6 million. This includes $34.1 million towards wide receiver Deebo Samuel, $15 million towards defensive end Arik Armstead and $12.2 million from cornerback Charvarius Ward.
Another notable is the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. Some of their notable values are $16.4 million to retired center Jason Kelce, $16.2 million to edge rusher Josh Sweat and $10.1 million to retired defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.
The Jets will also pay a hefty sum despite finishing the season just 5-12. Some of their notable values will be $14 million to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, $8.7 million to linebacker C.J. Mosley and $8.3 million to wide receiver Davante Adams. The bulk of Rodgers' dead money will hit in 2026 when New York owes $35 million in dead cap.
