
John Brenkus Dies at 54, Co-Created and Hosted ESPN's Sport Science
John Brenkus, host of Sport Science, died Saturday at the age of 54.
Brenkus' family said he "had been battling depression" and "lost his fight with this terrible illness."
The Virginia Department of Health, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told TMZ Sports that Brenkus died by suicide.

Sport Science, which Brenkus helped to produce, won multiple Emmys during its run on Fox Sports Net and ESPN. Through the show, he provided detailed breakdowns of big moments and helped show why certain athletes set themselves apart.
In one memorable 2012 segment, five-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love boxed out a sumo wrestler to demonstrate his rebounding prowess.
In another more lighthearted examination, Brenkus looked into whether former Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch was aided on the field by his Skittles consumption.
Brenkus found a way to present scientific data in an engaging way, and his efforts helped viewers gain a better appreciation of the athletes they watched.
