In the decisive Game 6, Siakam turned in a stellar performance, finishing with 31 points on 55.6 percent shooting from the field and 60 percent from three-point range. He added three assists, five rebounds and three blocks, hitting clutch shots down the stretch to help secure Indiana’s first Finals berth since 2000.
The 31-year-old is no stranger to the NBA Finals, having won a championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. However, this marks his first time receiving MVP honors, after former teammate Kawhi Leonard swept both the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals MVP awards that year.
From winning Most Improved Player in 2018-19 to now being named Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Siakam has come full circle — and is headed to his second NBA Finals.
In addition to earning Eastern Conference Finals MVP honors, Siakam enters the NBA Finals with the third-best odds to win Finals MVP, trailing only league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Pacers teammate Tyrese Haliburton, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder (-600)
- Tyrese Haliburton, Pacers (+750)
- Pascal Siakam, Pacers (+3300)
- Jalen Williams, Thunder (+3300)
- Chet Holmgren, Thunder (+7500)
Siakam has put together a strong season, averaging 20.2 points on 51.9 percent shooting, along with 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while knocking down 38.9 percent of his shots from three-point range.
The veteran forward has maintained his dominance in the postseason, posting averages of 20.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He’s shooting an impressive 53.5 percent from the field and 44.9 percent from beyond the arc in the playoffs.
Siakam and the Pacers will face Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, set to tip off in Oklahoma City on Thursday.
