Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Vikings Agree to Multiyear Contract Extension
The Minnesota Vikings have made a long-term commitment to general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
After NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Adofo-Mensah and the Vikings agreed to a multiyear contract extension Thursday night, the Vikings confirmed the news Friday.

Additionally, the Vikings elevated Ryan Grigson and Demitrius Washington to the role of assistant general manager, per Pelissero.
Per Craig Peters of the Vikings' official website, Adofo-Mensah said he is "beyond excited to continue this journey," adding:
"This organization means so much to me, and I've always believed in what we're building here. From the ownership to the incredible staff, there's a true commitment to creating a winning culture with the goal of competing year in and year out. I'm thankful for the trust the Wilf family has placed in me, and I'm thrilled to continue leading our football operation alongside Coach [Kevin' O'Connell. Minnesota has welcomed my family with open arms, and we embrace the sacrifices that come with chasing the ultimate prize, knowing what it will mean to the best fan base and this great state."
After spending several years in the San Francisco 49ers' front office and two years as the Cleveland Browns' vice president of football operations, Adofo-Mensah was hired as the Vikings' GM in 2022.
Hiring O'Connell was one of Adofo-Mensah's first orders of business, and the partnership has been great thus far.
The Vikings went 13-4, won the NFC North and reached the playoffs in their first season together in 2022. They took a step back and missed the postseason with a 7-10 mark in 2023, but Minnesota rebounded in 2024.
At 14-3, the Vikings had their best record since going 15-1 in 1998. They fell one game short of winning the NFC North, though, and fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
Although the playoff success has yet to come for Adofo-Mensah and the Vikings, it cannot be denied that they are in a much better place now than they were when Adofo-Mensah arrived.
Minnesota lost longtime starting quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency last offseason, prompting Adofo-Mensah to sign Sam Darnold in free agency.
Most had written off the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft as a bust, but he had a career year in Minnesota and was named a Pro Bowler for the first time.
Adofo-Mensah also signed pass-rusher Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel as part of the same free-agent class, and they were both named Pro Bowlers as well last season.
Minnesota lost its quarterback in free agency for a second straight year this offseason, as Darnold signed with the Seattle Seahawks, paving the way for 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy to step up after missing his entire rookie year due to injury.
While the jury is still out on McCarthy, there is no question that he has one of the best supporting casts in the NFL around him, and that is thanks largely to the work Adofo-Mensah has done building the roster over the past few years.
