Miami Marlins second baseman Ronny Simón had a rough evening on Tuesday, committing three errors in the San Diego Padres' 8-6 comeback win over the Marlins after initially trailing 6-0.

The mistakes left Simón in tears as he left the field in the fourth inning, though he told reporters on Wednesday that current players like Manny Machado, Fernando Tatís Jr., Luis Arráez and former MLB stars Robinson Canó and Luis Castillo reached out to console him after the contest:

Tatís also spoke on the situation after the game:

Simón's first error came in the second inning after he dove for a Tyler Wade ground ball that hit off his glove and rolled into foul territory, leading to a run. When Simón attempted to recover the ball and throw to home to keep a second run from scoring, he threw wild and the second run crossed the plate.

His second gaffe came in the fourth inning when he booted a grounder from Wade. His third followed shortly thereafter, as he threw wild to second base, attempting to get a force out.

"Things just started to kind of snowball a little bit. You know, compound effect," manager Clayton McCullough, who called a mound visit to calm down Simón during the fourth inning, told reporters after the game. "It was tough. And [we] just thought, for us and him, just in that moment, making the change there was prudent just with kind of how things had transpired."

"I just talked to him," starting pitcher Max Meyer added. "I said, 'I know you're not trying to do any of that behind me. Keep your head up, and I obviously know you always want to have my back, and I'm going to try to get yours.' Stuff like that's going to happen. It's baseball at the end of the day, and I'm not going to hold anything behind him."

Simón, 25, is hitting .234 with five RBI and six runs and a .604 OPS across 19 games this year. The rookie second baseman had an RBI and a run scored in the first inning of the game.
