Panthers' Canales Says He Wants to Run the 'Bryce Young Offense' in 2025 NFL Season
Bryce Young had an up-and-down second season in the league during the 2024 campaign, but the Carolina Panthers are all in on the quarterback heading into his third year.
Just ask head coach Dave Canales.
"Honestly, my expectations are just wide open, especially as he goes in there with command like he's been doing this offseason and really just leading the guys," Canales said, via the team's transcript (h/t Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk). "There were some great plays out there, some great timing, throws, but also just the level of comfort like we talked about with the offense, knowing the words, making different tweaks, and he's a part of that process.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"These are conversations that we've been having with him going back to the end of last season that we want to implement and just be able to, especially in the pass game, become Bryce Young offense, become this collective thing and get the chemistry going. I feel really confident about what I saw today, especially going against the defense, and just the speed that we were playing with."
Carolina made Young its franchise quarterback when it selected him with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, but he was just 2-14 as a rookie starter. That put him under the spotlight heading into his second season, but he struggled out of the gate and was benched.
Yet he returned to the starting lineup when Andy Dalton suffered a thumb injury in a car accident and never relinquished it the rest of the way.
In his final 10 games last season, the Alabama product threw for 15 touchdowns to six interceptions while adding five scores on the ground as a runner. The team went 4-6 during that span with victories over the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and New Orleans Saints.
Young showed more command of the offense during that stretch, and the Panthers started to win some games after a rough start in that department at the beginning of his career.
It isn't unreasonable to expect him to make another jump in 2025, and Canales' comments suggest the team plans on tailoring the offense to his strengths. Perhaps that will mean a first playoff appearance for the franchise since the 2017 campaign.
